Today marks the beginning of a couple of weeks off of work and the beginning of our preparations for our trip in to Brussels! But before we can do that, Ashley had a test shoot for her work, so what did I do? Well, wandered around of course!
I really enjoy the winter temperatures here compared to Chicago. Makes walking around outside and taking in the sites a lot nicer. I made it down to the Thames and grabbed some shots of the London Eye.
Also the houses of Parliament and Big Ben.
I also made my way over by St James Park and Green Park to get Buckingham Palace. I was too late to see the changing of the guard, but that didn’t stop me from grabbing a picture of this guard!
From here I made my way to Trafalgar Square and saw the National Gallery. London, being home to numerous free museums, is a great city for taking in culture on a budget. The National Gallery is a museum with hundreds of paintings by the likes of Renoir, Claude, Rembrandt, Van Gogh and dozens of others I’m not cultured enough to know of.
After walking around all day I needed a break so I went back to East London, where Ashley’s shoot was, and explored the coffee scene in Shoreditch.
Old Shoreditch Station is a coffee shop with some beers on tap that is housed inside of a decommissioned train station. Good espresso, however no filter coffee. I also made my way to Bulldog Edition, which is a coffee shop in the Ace Hotel. If you are in the area and need a filter coffee, I’d recommend going either there or Tuck Shop, which is another good cafe that has single origin coffees. All are within the same area in Shoreditch, so feel free to have a walk around or visit a couple of them!
