A Weekend in Edinburgh

Work brought us to Edinburgh, saw we made it into a working holiday.  We arrived at Edinburgh Airport from a Virgin Atlantic flight from Heathrow, early in the morning.  The airport was small but nice – Plenty of restaurants and a Yo! Sushi for Ashley to get a sushi bite from when we headed back!  After making our way through the airport we found the bus station that would take us from Edinburgh Airport to the city center.  It took about 45 min on the bus.

We got off at Prince’s Street and looked around our first impression:  amazing.

Edinburgh is a city full of gothic architecture dating back hundreds of years. Wikipedia tells me that there has been a castle occupying this area of land since the 12th century.

This is Calton Hill at the end of Prince’s Street.  It offers one of the best views of the city.

Food

We ate breakfast at cafes as well as our hotel.  The hotel offered a nice local flavor in the form of haggis and black pudding along with eggs and pastries.  The haggis was actually pretty good, but I cannot say the same for the black pudding.
